Each year, the Alberta Chapter of The Wildlife Society has several board positions available. One of them is definitely for you!
These are the positions available this year:
President-elect – a voting member that serves three terms with the ACTWS. First as the “president-elect”, a second year as President, and a third as Past-President. As president-elect, you will work with a great team to organize and coordinate the annual conference. As president, you will serve as the leader of ACTWS for one year. As past-president, you will help provide historical context for decision making.
Secretary-Treasurer – a voting member that serves a two-year term and is responsible for all the financial and administrative duties of the chapter.
Student Director – a voting member, serves a one or two year term, must be a post secondary student, and is responsible to represent the student member interests, and coordinate student-focused events during the conference and throughout the year.
Two Director Positions– voting members that serve a two-year term and can have variable roles within the chapter, such as a sponsorship chair, nominations and elections lead, fundraising leads, and more.
When you are part of the board, you have direct influence on the operations and priorities of the ACTWS. Our board is a dedicated group of members who value the contribution of the ACTWS to our profession and who want to be a part of guiding our organization to achieve its mission. As a part of the board, you will broaden your network, learn new skills, and gain valuable insight into the inner-workings of a non-profit organization in Alberta.
If you are interested in putting your name in the hat for any of these positions, please contact Fauve Blanchard know as soon as possible. To apply, send Fauve a brief description of yourself. Your description can be similar to those of our existing board members on our “Who We Are” page. Submitted descriptions will be used in the 2021-22 election survey that must be available online to all ACTWS members by February 19th.
Deadline for board nominations is February 18, 2021.
