The future of wildlife conservation depends on the next generation of wildlife professionals. Through the ACTWS Professional Connections Program, experienced professionals can support students and early-career practitioners through mentorship, career conversations, and community engagement opportunities.
By sharing your knowledge, experience, and perspective, you can help emerging professionals explore career paths, expand their professional networks, and navigate their careers with greater clarity.
Please note that the Professional Connections Program is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026. At that time, we will open the program to mentee applications.

Ways to Get Involved:
Contribute your perspective to discussions taking place within the ACTWS community.
As a contributor, you’ll have the opportunity to weigh in on conversations, share your experiences, and provide insights from your unique professional background. The goal is to expose students and members to a diversity of perspectives across sectors, disciplines, career stages, and areas of expertise.
A prompt to participate will be sent once per month. Participation is completely optional, and you can choose to respond only to topics that interest you or align with your experience.
Time Commitment: 20-minute conversations. Mentors set their own availability and participation level.
Share your experience through one-on-one, one-time conversations with students and early-career professionals. This program is designed to expose mentees to a variety of career paths and professional perspectives, making it particularly valuable for those who are still exploring their career options.
For mentors, this is a great way to support multiple mentees while maintaining flexibility around your schedule and availability.
Mentors will provide a short biography and a scheduling link (e.g., Google Calendar appointment schedule). You control your own availability, and mentees can book appointments during the times you make available. Mentees will be asked to provide a discussion topic in advance and will be responsible for leading the conversation.
C. Long-Term Mentorship Program
Time Commitment: Approximately 1 hour per month for 6 months.
Participate in a one-on-one mentorship relationship with one mentee focused on professional growth, goal setting, skill development, and career planning.
This program is intended for mentees who have a clear career direction or specific professional goals. For mentors, this program is intended for those who are interested in making a deeper investment in a mentee’s professional development through regular conversations, guidance, and knowledge sharing over an extended period.
Mentor-mentee pairs will be matched based on career interests, professional goals, and areas of expertise.
